The 100th day of school was a great celebration at SJD. The JK/SK class made special edible necklaces out of 100 fruit loops, funky 100th day glasses and had cake with 100 sprinkles! The grade 1-2 class had an art lesson about What does a “100 Look Like”, they wrote 100th day poems and did 100 different exercises for fitness class! The grade 3-4 class did a hundred word challenge, created photo portraits of what they would look like at 100 yr old and made a big batch of Hot Chocolate with 100 Marshmallows, of course.
The grade 5-6 class threw out a challenge to the rest of the school to collect 100 non-perishable food items for the food bank. They far exceeded expectations and delivered well over 100 items to the foodbank. Way to go grade 5-6’s!
Finally, Mr Poldmaa decided to do his own 100 challenge and ran 100 laps of the school – turned out to be 12 km run and 4000 stairs. He was joined by a few students along the way and he was cheered on through out his run by many high-5’s. Special mention to the kindergarten class that tracked his progress by counting and recording his laps.
