Kindergarten Registration

On January 7, we will be registering incoming JK and SK students for the 2016-17 school year. Registration will be ongoing throughout the winter. All students are welcome to enroll. SJD truly is the place to be!

Winter Concert

Students and staff are busily preparing songs and skits for our annual concert to be presented on Wednesday, December 16. There will be two shows: 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM in the school gym. All are welcome to attend!

Progress Reports

Gr. 1 – 8 progress reports will be sent home on Wednesday, December 2 at the end of the day.

Media Safety Presentations

On October 26, students from Gr. 3 – 8 will be learning about Internet and Social Media safety from presenter Ryan Richardson, President of Media Safe Corporation.

Student Council

New Staff

Mrs. Jarvis is very happy to welcome four new teachers to the staff at SJD. Miss Melanie Schill will be the Gr. 1/2 teacher, Mrs. Angela Plaunt will be the Gr. 6/7 teacher; Mme Nicole Swift will be the French teacher; and Mr. Bryan Nanni will be the Release teacher. Welcome to all new and returning staff!

Winter Carnival Parade

Under the creative organization of Mrs. P. Bernath and Ms. Portis, SJD entered another award winning float in the Wawa Winter Carnival Parade on February 13. The theme was Goose Dynasty, and SJD’s float won second prize. It was great fun for many of the students, staff and families who participated!

Report Cards

Term One report cards will go home on Wednesday, February 11. Parents are welcome to meet with teachers by scheduling appointments.

100th Day of School

Students from JK – Gr. 3/4 will be celebrating the 100th day of school on February 9 with a pancake and sausage breakfast prepared by their teachers. The JK/SK class is a very thoughtful class – they are trying to collect 100 non-perishable food items for the Food Bank.

Floor Hockey begins

Students from Gr. 3 – 6 will begin Floor Hockey intramurals. Gr. 7 & 8 studnets will be coaching. Boys will play during morning recesses, and girls during afternoon recesses.
