Tanya Lamon Day

Tanya Lamon graduated from SJD in 2005. She is representing Canada in women’s hockey at the Pan-Am games in Mexico City from March 3 – 9. SJD is very proud of Tanya for all the hard work she has put into her hockey  since she was a very young girl.  She has achieved her goal! Congratulations and GO, TANYA, GO!!!

Legion Contests

SJD is proud to work with the Royal Canadian Legion to promote the Legion while developing valuable learning skills. 100th Day of School

It’s hard to believe that our school year has passed the 100th Day. The primary classes celebrated in style with a pancake and sausage breakfast prepared by their teachers, Mrs. Chandor-Hall, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. P. Bernath. The JK/SK class sang Happy 100th Day to the entire school during the announcements. Several 100 activities took place in the classes to commemorate this milestone.

February is Kindness and Caring Month

T-shirts will be sold throughout the month of February for $6 each.  The t-shirt are black with a pink logo “Bullying Stops Here” and are very good quality (Gildan brand name). Kindergarten registration

SJD will be holding Kindergarten registration for children entering JK in 2014/15 on Wednesday, January 22. Please call the school (705-856-2517) to set up an appointment. If January 22 is inconvenient, an alternative date can be arranged. SJD’s the place to be!

Christmas Week

SJD Christmas Week Sir James Dunn has had an exciting week leading up to the holiday break. Christmas Hat Day, Red White and Green Day, Ugly Christmas Sweater Day and finally Pajama Day were celebrated. Candycanegrams were sold and distributed. Christmas carols were sung every morning in the gym, and the week ended with an afternoon of board games to develop and reinforce math

SJD Winter Concerts

Our annual concerts will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Students are asked to report to their classrooms for the evening performance by 6:45 PM. Families, friends and the general public are invited to both performances. Admission is a silver collection with all proceeds being used for our Free the Children campaign to build much-needed schools in Africa.

White Elephant Sale to Help African Students

On Friday, December 6, SJD Student Council held a white elephant sale to raise money for the Free the Children fundraiser. Free the Children is an organization that builds schools in underdeveloped countries so all children may access education. $488 was raised! Students purchased used toys, books, stuffed animals and many lovely household items. Many of the purchases will find their way under the

SJD Loves Math!

On Thursday, November 19, SJD teachers organized a Math Fair for their students. Students made hats celebrating math, played games and participated in many fun math activities. Math is everywhere, and it’s fun!!

SJD Remembers

Remembrance Day at SJD Remembrance Day is a very special day at Sir James Dunn. At 10:45 on November 11, SJD held its annual assembly honouring the veterans who have so selflessly defended the freedom enjoyed by all of us today. The assembly was organized by Ms. Portis.
