Education Week at SJD – Celebrating The Arts

Last week the students of SJD were busy exploring their artistic talents. Back in October, the grade 8 students applied for, and received, a SpeakUp Grant. SpeakUp grants are provided by the Ministry of Education for funding Student Voice Initiatives. SJD Celebrates 100 Days of School

The 100th day of school was a great celebration at SJD. The JK/SK class made special edible necklaces out of 100 fruit loops, funky 100th day glasses and had cake with 100 sprinkles! SJD students Hit the Slopes at Searchmont

On February 14th, Valentine’s Day, 30 students hit the slopes at the Searchmont Ski Resort in Sault Ste. Public Speaking at SJD

Last night SJD had their school level competition for Public Speaking. There were 3 divisions – Primary (Grade 1-3), Junior (Grades 4-6) and Intermediate (Grades 7-8). In the Primary Division Lillian Ouellet took first place and Riley Milne and Chase Desroachers were 2nd and 3rd respectively. 2017 Remembrance Day Poster and Literacy Awards

Congratulations to all the SJD students that took part in the Remembrance Day Poster and Literacy contest. This year SJD was well represented in the prizes! SJD Launches Breakfast Program

Today SJD launched their breakfast program. Over the years SJD has been providing healthy snacks at nutritional breaks. Today we have officially started our Breakfast Program. This program will run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Over Christmas we renovated a space in one of our lunch rooms to allow us to serve hot breakfasts. Kindergarten Registration Open House

SJD – Sports Flash The 23rd Annual Wawa Cup Elementary School Soccer Tournament was held on October 4th at the Michipicoten Community Centre sports field and hosted by Sir James Dunn. Seven teams from Wawa, Chapleau, Hornepayne and Dubreuilville vied for the coveted cup throughout the day.
